About Forensic Factor

Forensics junkie? Fan of Forensic Files? You should check out Forensic Factor. It covers many of the same cases as Forensic Files, but has longer episodes (about 45 minutes). The show focuses on cases solved using a variety of forensic techniques, from DNA and fingerprints, to bite mark analysis and forensic botany, even ear print identification.

The first season concentrates on techniques like forensic profiling, weapons analysis, and analysis of audio and video footage, rather than cases. From there, seasons focus on one or more cases per episode. There’s also an update to the show with Forensic Factor: A New Era (rebooted in 2023), which incorporates digital forensics in solving many of the cases and adds police interviews to episodes.

About Caught in the Net

Most of us aren’t aware of just how big our digital footprint is, and killers are no different. Caught in the Net focuses on cases where specific types of technology helped detectives solve murders.

Video cameras help track suspects, text messages can reveal a murder plot, social media might offer clues, and GPS can be used to track a suspect. Even technology like Fitbits and heart monitors can play a role in an investigation.

Each episode details one or more technologies used to solve a homicide case, and they also include police interviews, the stories of victims’ loved ones, and re-creations of the case. The series is similar to Witness to Murder: Digital Evidence, so if you like that show, give this one a look.

About Witness to Murder: Digital Evidence

As technology evolves, so does evidence in murder cases, and detectives are taking advantage of text messages, GPS, app information, phone tracking, and other digital technology to find and convict killers. This type of evidence takes center stage in the cases in Witness to Murder: Digital Evidence.

The show focuses on how technology has changed the way investigators solve murders, particularly their use of technology to track suspects. Detectives in various murder cases share how they applied technology in creative and unusual ways to solve cases, illustrating how, ultimately, a digital footprint is often better than a real one.
