About Deadly Devotion
What can go wrong when a person becomes so taken by a cultish leader, so immersed in a religious group, or too involved with the wrong people? Deadly Devotion answers that question. It features murders and other deaths related to different cults, subcultures, and fringe communities.
Episodes look at homicides and accidental deaths of people involved in the Russian mafia, the Amish, Mormonism, sororities, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Buddhism, the Pentecostal church, Hare Krishnas, the Romani people, new age groups, an outlaw biker gang, and other groups.
Instead of focusing on the investigation of these deaths, episodes closely follow the victim’s journey into the group, how they became immersed in it, and how their death occurred. Members of the specific group—including some who were friends of the victim—also discuss their experience.
